The Cozy Sips Catalog, Explained (And Who Each One Is For)

The Cozy Sips Catalog, Explained (And Who Each One Is For)

Ten coffees, five teas, four mugs, two sets, and a few things that fit nowhere else. Our catalog is small on purpose. A shelf you can hold in your head is easier to shop than one you cannot.

This is the map. What each one tastes like, where it comes from, how we roast it, what sizes it comes in, and who it is for.

The single origins

One country, one harvest, one set of farms per coffee below. We roast to order on Wednesday and ship Thursday, so what lands on your counter is days old. Here is how that schedule works.

Brazil Santos

Cocoa, smooth, and nothing you have to decode. This is the bag we hand someone who says they do not like coffee.

It comes from Fazenda Santa Barbara in Parana and Sao Paulo, from Catuai and Mundo Novo trees between 750 and 1,050 meters in volcanic loam, pulped and sun-dried. Pour-over and drip show the cocoa, French press gives it body, espresso pulls a balanced crema.

12 oz $24.99. Order Brazil Santos.

Costa Rica

Sweet apple, raisin, and honey. It is the friendliest of the single origins, and the one we suggest for milk drinks.

Micro farms in Alajuela grow mostly Caturra and Catuai between 1,300 and 1,445 meters in volcanic loam, eco-pulped and sun-dried. Pour-over shows the sweetness best, drip is the everyday cup, and espresso is clean enough to carry milk.

12 oz $24.99. Order Costa Rica.

Colombia

Dried orange, berry, and chocolate. It is the most-asked-for single origin we sell.

Smallholder farmers around Medellin in Antioquia grow Castillo, Caturra, Colombia, and Typica between 1,300 and 1,500 meters in volcanic loam. It is fully washed and dried in solar dryers. Pour-over shows the dried orange and berry, and drip holds up for a morning pot.

12 oz $24.99. Order Colombia.

Nicaragua

Cocoa, floral, and citrus. If you have never bought a single origin coffee, this is the one to start with.

Smallholder farmers in Molino Norte, Matagalpa grow Yellow and Red Catuai, Catimor, and Parainema between 900 and 1,590 meters in clay minerals. It is fully washed with a 12 to 14 hour ferment, then dried on patios and raised beds. Pour-over makes the floral and citrus tones sing. French press rounds it out.

12 oz $24.99. Order Nicaragua.

Tanzania

Pear, floral, jasmine, and strawberry. It is the brightest and most aromatic coffee we carry, and our only medium-light roast.

Small cooperative farmers in the Mbeya region grow Bourbon and Kent between 1,200 and 1,900 meters in clay minerals, fully washed and dried on raised beds. Pour-over shows the strawberry and jasmine best. Our numbers for it are in the Tanzania brew guide.

12 oz $24.99. Order Tanzania.

Whiskey Barrel Aged Guatemala

Dark chocolate, butterscotch, and a faint note of vanilla with gentle warmth behind it. No alcohol survives roasting, so this is coffee, not a drink.

It starts as single origin Guatemala coffee, aged 30 days in used bourbon barrels before we roast it to order. It is our most-requested special-occasion coffee. Drip brings out the chocolate, espresso pulls a balanced crema with the barrel notes forward, French press rounds it out.

12 oz $24.99. Order the Whiskey Barrel.

The blends and the flavored coffees

These are the coffees that are not one farm in one country. That is not a step down, it is a different job.

Latin American Blend

Nutty, mild fruit, and a gentle cocoa aftertaste. This is the dependable everyday cup, the one we keep on the counter.

It blends coffees shade-grown in Central American rainforests and on Amazon-border volcanic soil, washed, then sun-dried for up to 7 days. Drip, pour-over, and French press all work. Espresso works for milk drinks, and batch brew handles crowds.

12 oz $24.99, and it stops at 5 lb. Order Latin American Blend.

Mocha Chocolate

Rich chocolate, all the way through.

It is a specialty-grade single origin coffee, roasted in small batches, then flavored with chocolate flavoring while the coffee is still warm. All natural flavoring, no artificial ingredients. Drip brings out the chocolate, espresso is a good latte base, and French press adds body for a dessert cup. We do not recommend it as a black coffee if you prefer plain coffee.

12 oz $24.99. Order Mocha Chocolate.

Dubai Chocolate

Chocolate-forward with a soft sweetness and a clean finish. It tastes like good chocolate, not like syrup.

It is a single origin coffee with light natural flavoring, roasted medium. Drip, espresso, or French press all work, and it pairs with a square of dark chocolate and a quiet evening. Brew it a little stronger if you add milk.

12 oz $24.99, and it stops at 5 lb. Order Dubai Chocolate.

The teas

All our teas are loose leaf, in 3 oz bags unless noted. Why we lean on loose leaf instead of tea bags is the long answer.

Jasmine

Green tea scented with hand-picked jasmine blossoms. Medium-bodied, sweet, smooth, silky, and good for several steepings.

We set the hand-picked green tea aside until the blossoms are ready, then scent it with them. Give it 30 seconds on the first steep, 45 on the second, longer after that. It is caffeinated, because it is green tea.

3 oz $19.99. Order Jasmine.

Hibiscus Berry

Ruby-red, blueberry up front, currant depth underneath, low astringency, and naturally sweet. It is excellent iced, which surprises anyone who expects herbal tea to be sharp.

It is organic hibiscus flowers, organic rosehips, organic orange peel, and organic rooibos, finished with organic blueberry, passionfruit, and mango flavoring. No tea leaf, so no caffeine.

3 oz $19.99. Order Hibiscus Berry.

Peach Paradise

Fruity peach, sour cranberry, and smooth rose. Light ruby, fragrant, and naturally sweet from the dried fruit.

It is a caffeine-free herbal blend. Hot, it works as a dessert-tea alternative. Iced, it is a summer refresher.

3 oz $19.99. Order Peach Paradise.

Mango Treat

Natural mango flavor with hibiscus and rosehips behind it. Ruby-gold, distinctly fruity, and sweet without turning heavy.

It is a caffeine-free herbal blend, so zero caffeine. Hot or iced, it works.

3 oz $19.99. Order Mango Treat.

Matcha

Finely cut green tea for whisking. Smooth, vegetal, slightly sweet, and it holds up across infusions.

It is the morning ritual cup. What ceremonial matcha actually is explains the grade and why it is not powdered green tea.

1 oz $24.99. Order Matcha.

The sets, the mug, and the odd one out

Starter Ritual Kit

Matcha Loose Leaf Tea (1 oz) and Mango Treat caffeine-free herbal tea (3 oz) in one box. One for slow mornings, one for slow evenings.

$45.00 for the set (matcha 1 oz, herbal tea 3 oz). Order the Starter Ritual Kit.

Taster Flight (Tea Trio)

Three full-size 3 oz loose-leaf teas in one box: Mango Treat, Hibiscus Berry, and Jasmine. One caffeine-free, one fruit-forward, one caffeinated green tea. Taste your way through our tea shelf.

$49.99 for the box of three 3 oz teas. Order the Taster Flight.

The mugs

Glossy white ceramic, dishwasher and microwave safe, with a C-handle, lead-free and BPA-free. Four designs: tea and coffee, but first, coffee, cats and dogs, and rescue, sip, repeat.

Each mug holds 11 oz and costs $15.99.

Mushroom coffee

Cocoa, soft citrus, and a clean finish. It tastes like coffee, not like a supplement.

It is a specialty-grade medium roast with lion's mane, cordyceps, and reishi as organic extracts. We make no health claims, we note the traditional uses, and we let you decide. What is actually in our mushroom coffee breaks it down.

Why it is the odd one out: it comes in 8 oz only, roughly two thirds of a 12 oz bag. That is not a sample size, it is the size the coffee works at. It arrives ground, in Standard grind only, because the mushroom compounds do not extract evenly at espresso pressure.

8 oz $24.99. Order the mushroom coffee.

How to read the bag

Four grinds, and they are not interchangeable. Standard is ground for drip and pour-over. Coarse is for French press and cold brew. Espresso is ground fine for espresso machines and moka pots. Whole Bean is for anyone with a grinder. Our grind size guide explains each one.

Sizes run 12 oz, 1 lb, 2 lb, 5 lb, and 12 lb. Every coffee uses the same price ladder: 12 oz $24.99, 1 lb $29.99, 2 lb $49.99, 5 lb $79.99, 12 lb $169.99. Latin American Blend and Dubai Chocolate stop at 5 lb.

There is a roast-date sticker on every bag. It tells you when we roasted it, not when it was made. What the roast date on the bag actually means covers how long a bag is at its best. We sell only arabica because that is how we buy.

What we do not sell

We do not sell decaf, and here is why we left it off the shelf. We do not sell K-cups. Subscriptions are not live yet.

A blend is not a single origin. Latin American Blend is built to taste like itself every time, which is a different goal from a coffee that tastes like one hillside in Antioquia. The bag tells you which one you hold.

The cause

A portion of every order supports our rescue partners, and we put the details on our impact page. If you want to see where the money goes before you order, that is the page to read.

Where to start

If this is your first order, start with a 12 oz bag and one coffee that sounds like something you would drink on purpose. Like chocolate and want nothing complicated? Brazil Santos. Want something fruity? Colombia. Milk drinks? Costa Rica for espresso.

More of a tea person? The Taster Flight is the easy way in, since three 3 oz teas cost less than three bags. And if you have ordered once, what to order first covers how we think about a first order.

P.S. Every bag that leaves us has been tasted by a person before it ships. How we taste every batch explains the routine.

Brew slow.

Sip slow.
